Beltline Clean-up Day
The Virginia Museum of Transportation and Roanoke Southern, LLC invites you to participate in the Beltline Clean-up Day. Join us on March 28, 2021, 1pm to 5 pm, and Wasena Park for a fun day of removing trash and clearing the train tracks of vegetation on the Beltline Train Track. We will be working on the trackage heading west from Wasena Park. For more information or to signup please contact Virginia Museum of Transportation at VMT.org. Online Registration is required before 3/25/2021 and includes Volunteer Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk Agreement (see below).
Who Can Help?
Anyone and everyone. Most volunteers should expect to be able to walk along train track pick up litter, and clean vegetation using non-power tools (hand clippers, loppers, rakes). However, there are many jobs that do not require significant physical activity. These include handing out supplies, on-site check-in, organizing water station, and volunteer outreach.
Everyone, regardless of ability or age, to participate in the manner in which they feel most comfortable.
What to Wear:
- Clothes that can get dirty
- Sturdy shoes (no sandals or flip-flops)
- Long pants or high boots to avoid scratches
What to Bring:
- Insect repellent
- Reusable water bottle
- Hand Sanitizer
- Hand tools (if you have them- hand clippers; loppers, rakes, etc)
What will be provided:
Trash Bags, Hand Sanitizer, Antiseptic wipes, bottle of water
