After careful deliberation, VMT leadership has made the decision to temporarily delay 611’s arrival to Strasburg Rail Road. As the crew worked to make the engine ready for the move, a malfunction was discovered with the locomotive’s stoker, preventing the stoker from advancing coal forward into the firebox.
VMT mechanical personnel are actively working on diagnosing and repairing the stoker. The Virginia Museum of Transportation would like to extend a thank you to Norfolk Southern for their support and cooperation as an essential partner of our program.
For security and safety reasons, the exact timing and route of the movement will not be announced. We look forward to our arrival in Strasburg.
