HOURS + ADMISSION + ACCESSIBILITY
The Museum is large and much of our collection is outdoors. We recommend comfortable walking shoes and clothing appropriate for outdoor temperatures. Please call ahead to confirm holiday hours and inclement weather closings.
Admissions tax of 5.5% is in addition to the rates shown at right. Discounts are available for members of AAA, the National Railway Historical Society, and the Norfolk & Western Historical Society.
Joint tickets are available that also include admission to the O. Winston Link Museum. Joint tickets are $13.00 for adults; $11.00 for seniors (age 60+); and $9.00 for children (ages 3-11). Joint ticket prices include admissions tax.
Group rates are available, please call ahead (540) 342-5670.
Most of the Museum—including the Rail Yard, main gallery exhibit areas, rest rooms, and the museum store—is accessible to persons with disabilities.
The Safety Instruction Car is an historic car not designed to modern ADA standards. There is on-grade access to the car, but the theatre is not accessible by wheelchairs or strollers.
The Model Circus Exhibit is in an upstairs gallery accessible only by stairs. Stairs are also necessary to enter the rolling stock that is open to the public and the Roanoke Valley Model Engineers' layouts in the Museum's basement that are open for some special events.
