The Virginia Museum of Transportation’s Auto Gallery, sponsored by Advance Auto Parts, opened in April of 2007, the newest gallery in the museum. The gallery showcases automobiles dating from the earliest years of the twentieth century to the threshold of the twenty-first century.

The first and current exhibit in the gallery is “From Mud to Mobility: 100 Years of the Virginia Department of Transportation.” Highlights of this exhibit include photographic billboards, informational displays, and a unique collection of Virginia license plates dating back to 1917.
