CLASS M2c DESCRIPTION
- Manufacturer:
- 50 M2 produced by the Baldwin Locomotive Works
- 11 M2c produced in the Norfolk & Western Roanoke Shops
- Production era: 1910 - 1911
- Freight engine nicknamed the "12 wheeler"
- Originally used as heavy freight engines, they were soon replaced by more powerful locomotives
# 1151
- Manufactured by the N&W Roanoke Shops in 1911
- Retired and sold for scrap in 1950. It remained hidden and untouched for 59 years
- Rescued from the scrapyard in 2009, it was one of the "Lost Engines of Roanoke".
- It currently sits in the Museum's railyard awaiting restoration.
