  • Manufactured in September 1967
  • One of 10 purchased by the N&W in 1966-1967
  • Originally used in regular freight service
  • In the 1970s, these units were coupled to slugs and used in hump yard service at N&W yards in Portsmouth, Bluefield, Roanoke and Norfolk
  • Painted in "Pevler Blue," named for Herman Pevler, N&W President from 1963 - 1970. He was previously the president of the Wabash Railroad, which completed its merger with the N&W in 1964. During his administration, black N&W engines were repainted in a blue similar to what was used on the Wabash.
  • Donated to the Museum by the Norfolk Southern Corporation
  • Cosmetically restored in 2011.
