DESCRIPTION

  • Manufacturer: Studebaker - Packard Corporation
  • Known as the "Econ-O-Miler"
  • Designed specifically for taxicab service. Built on a Studebaker station wagon frame, the hood and the trunk were shortened to enable 4.5 inches more legroom for passengers and additional space for luggage. The vehicle was also designed using the body shell of the 1953-1958 full-sized models with the front and rear overhang shortened to create a "compact" vehicle.

The exhibit was originally sold by Jarrett-Chewning Corp, Roanoke, VA. It was donated to the Museum by the Yellow Cab Company and the Roberts Family
